Baptism

What is baptism?

Baptism is a sacred ceremony where someone is either emersed in or sprinkled with water. Baptism symbolises the washing away of sin, the start of a new life in Jesus Christ, and membership into his body the church.

Who can be baptised?

In the Anglican Church we baptise anyone who professes faith in Jesus, whether young or old.

For children

We love to welcome children into God's family. When a child is baptised, the parents, supported by godparents, are committing their child to be raised in the faith that they as adults profess. Parents should be faithful Christians, committed to raising their child as a follower of Jesus in the community of a church.

Thanksgiving

Often families want to mark the milestone of a new born child before God and in a church building. We offer a Thanksgiving Service that gives thanks for the life of a new baby and asks for God's help for parents and loved ones to help raise them.
