What is Marriage?
Jesus said, “a man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh”. Matthew 19:5
Marriage is a gift of God, uniting a man and woman into a lifelong partnership of body, mind and soul. Find out more about marriage.
What is required before a wedding?
Before your wedding there are a series of marriage preparation sessions with either the minister or a provider of your choice. Our ministers are friendly and down-to-earth.
A rehearsal is normally held a few days before your wedding to make sure everything will be just right. On your wedding day the minister will put you and your guests at ease and ensure your wedding is both relaxing and meaningful.
Where can we get married?
St Luke's Richmond
St Luke’s is a favourite wedding location for couples. It is close to Hobart, the airport and a number of fine reception venues. The restoration of both the interior and exterior guarantee its place as one of the finest Georgian Church buildings in the country. St Luke’s is just right for a small and intimate congregation or a larger gathering of up to two hundred.
There is plenty of parking near the church. In the event of wind and rain the wedding car can drive right up to the church door.
You are welcome to capture your important occasion in photo or video. The church and the village of Richmond make for a great backdrop.
Our other church buildings
There are other charming church buildings in picturesque settings at Sorell, Koonya and Port Arthur, each with its own unique setting and ambience.
Outdoor locations
Our parish has some of the most picturesque locations in the world for an outdoor service.
